We love like fireflies
Fireflies & Us — A Midnight Experiment
This film was not planned in the traditional sense.
It lived in my mind for a long time — an image I couldn’t find anywhere, no matter how much I searched.
There were photographs of fireflies.
There were films of couples.
But never both, existing together in a real, untouched moment.
That absence became the idea.
Shooting this was far from easy.
Deep midnight. No artificial light. No visible background.
Just darkness, two people, and fleeting sparks of life moving through the frame.
I had no reference. No guide. Only instinct.
One full moon night, while we were out documenting fireflies — something I often do — the idea finally found its moment.
Friends who were with us became the subjects. No setup, no performance. Just presence.
We had barely two hours.
What you see is from that night — raw, imperfect, and real.
The footage was later edited on a mobile phone, without any professional setup, staying as close as possible to what it felt like to be there.
This is not just a film.
It’s an attempt to capture something that exists for a few nights, in a way that hadn’t been seen before.
A quiet intersection of love and light — both temporary, both alive.
